Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to further the understanding of the importance of introducing music, good acoustic, and visual privacy within the 21st century teaching and learning environment, and how new furniture can be developed to provide these features. These researchers focused on understanding how music can be used as an aid in the learning experience, and how acoustic and visual privacy can be adapted to accommodate for all types of users in a variety of environments. This research team used qualitative methods (photographs, interviews, videography, literature reviews, and case studies) and quantitative method to understand how to enhance the music education, visual and acoustical privacy within the education facility. Data was then analyzed using the AEIOU method to extract new discoveries and commonalities from the results. The research team recorded interviews through photographs, videos, and written documentation. The researchers came to several conclusions from analyzing the data collected. These conclusions describe the most effective furniture types, classroom arrangements, and learning tools, and are intended to assist designers in creating the future of educational furniture. In this paper this research team will share their research methods and findings in detail.
