Abstract:
This study aims to identify the perceptions and readiness of King Saud University students toward online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also aims to identify the relation between students' perceptions and readiness to learn online during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researcher used the descriptive approach with survey and correlational parts to achieve these objectives. A questionnaire is used as a research tool for gathering data. The first axis is KSU students' perceptions of online learning during the Covid 19 pandemic. This axis includes (33) paragraphs distributed over two dimensions: The first dimension of the research tool is students' satisfaction with the online learning experience during the Covid 19 pandemic, and this dimension included (13) items. The second dimension is the effectiveness of digital curricula used in the online learning experience during the Covid 19 pandemic, and this dimension included (20) paragraphs. The second axis is the readiness of KSU students for online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This axis includes the three dimensions. The first dimension is the availability of technology tools, and this dimension includes (3) paragraphs. The answer to the paragraphs of this dimension was (yes or no). The second dimension is the use of technology, and this dimension includes (11) paragraphs. The third dimension is rehabilitation and tech support, and this dimension includes (6) paragraphs.
The study sample represented a random sample of 105 male and female students. The research results show the students being examined showing "neutral" perceptions of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the KSU technology portal is available 24/7 for Students to learn online during the COVID-19 pandemic. The students see that they use technology with a high degree of proficiency. Most students responded with "agree" on the "qualification and support" dimensions. The findings of this research revealed that there is a statistically positive correlation between students' perceptions of online learning and their readiness. There are statistically significant differences within-study sample responses, with the difference of college variable, which came in favour of scientific colleges. There are also statistically significant differences within the study sample responses, with the difference in the study year favouring senior students. Results indicated no statistically significant differences within-study sample responses with the sex difference. In light of these findings, the study recommended providing all requirements for an online learning environment in education. Moreover, KSU should train faculty to help develop digital online learning and make it more effective and practical than traditional learning. Keywords:
