Abstract:

Enhancing educational environment to improve the learning experience and to increase the student satisfaction level is the target of any higher educational institution. In Sultanate of Oman, the focus on higher education sector has gained momentum only in the last twenty years which is considered to be new compared with other countries. Middle East College (MEC) is one of the leading higher education institutions in Oman. In MEC, it was found that those students who undertake bachelor degree programs face difficulties in doing literature review and come up with appropriate project titles in the stipulated time period. This research focuses on the identifying the barriers that bachelor students who undertake their diploma as well as final project are facing in MEC. The research also proposes a technology based solution that will help the students to overcome the barriers in identifying the project titles and to help them to successfully complete their projects. The proposed solution would be implemented through a web portal. The portal would include different links to accessible online libraries, proper guidelines for searching, reading and summarizing the literature and documenting the appropriate content. The portal will also include details of past student projects, best practices in executing the projects, FAQs related to the projects and link for contacting the supervisors.
