Abstract:
The College of Engineering at SQU is relatively young and plays a major role in fulfilling the country’s needs of qualified engineering graduates. The College with an uundergraduate student population of more than 2500 students offers eight Bachelor of Engineering degrees. This paper will describe the College development phases since its establishment in 1986. All the programs that the college offers have been designed with involvement from different constituents. Four of its programs (Architectural, Industrial, Mechatronics and Chemical & Process Engineering) have lately received full accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. and four others (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Computer and Petroelum and Natural gas Enginering) were substantially accredited in 2006. This paper will present the college activities in quality assurance of its programs and its experience and lessons learned from the accreditation process. Keywords:
