Abstract:
The use of pedagogical models for the assessment of various attributes has become quite common in today’s contemporary world. The research aims to study the role of ‘creativity’ with the help of a pedagogical model among Omani students. The study would focus on three perspectives i.e. design education, creativity in different education disciplines and their existing relationships. The present research defined creativity as a problem solving process. The creative ability of an individual evolves out of his/her culture. Students of Arts, Design and Social Sciences can involve themselves in solving a vast array of cultural, social and communication problems. It is argued that teachers must enhance the creative potential of Omani students so that they are able to solve problems on their own. Unfortunately, the present scenario in education is not encouraging at all. A pedagogical model would be developed to enhance the creative potential of Omani students. In an attempt to achieve the purpose of the study, the importance of creativity in educational context was thoroughly understood. The research revealed that use of pedagogical models can certainly improve the creative potential of Omani students. A survey was conducted which included close ended and open ended questions. Most Omani lecturers believed that creativity is not necessarily an inborn trait and can be enhanced by the use of pedagogical models and techniques. The research could be considered as the first step at improving the education processes in Oman. The inferences drawn from the paper would certainly assist education experts and teachers in Oman to improve the standard of education and to ensure thorough learning among students. Keywords:
