Abstract:

Managing large programs/courses involves communicating with people from different backgrounds, which could prove to be an extremely arduous job. This presentation will try to provide people with administrative jobs, such as administrators, managers and course coordinators with some tools that could help them run any program or class of any size effectively; hence, their workload is significantly reduced . The project started in Spring 2012 as a solution to some of the problems arising from managing a huge course of tens of instructors and hundreds of students at the Language Centre, Sultan Qaboos University. With the help and support of people with good background knowledge in technology, a Google site (Souq234) that includes all documents and materials teachers need was created. Furthermore, a demonstration will show how Souq234 helped disseminate information quickly and smoothly with minimum effort and less costs. Similarly, teachers with busy schedules and time constraints could benefit from using this tool to facilitate the management of their classrooms’ portfolios and assignments anywhere and at any time.
