Abstract:
Locus of control is a concept from social psychology. It comes from an individual belief about whether actions affect outcomes. Every person has different life stories, people come from different backgrounds, and key life events.

Children can learn values from home, school, friends, and Media. Values are among the first things children learn, not consciously, but implicitly. This research will attempt to determine Emirati personal locus of control. First, since education level is one of the most important factors of self-esteem we will study whether individuals with a lower educational level have lower self-esteem. Also, Media has a huge impact on kids, which make their information processing process out of control. We will test if students who were exposed to heavy media consumption when they were kids have low locus of control. The demographic we will be surveying is Emirati Nationals, male and females, aged between 18-25 who are enrolled in Higher College of Technology. We will be using an online random sample generator in order to choose the students to take the survey. The questions are in in the form of close- ended questions, and few open ended questions.
