Abstract:
Problem Statement:
Generally, the Higher Education is more focused on the students training for professional career than the student’s motivation to learn. Essential for the academic education is the development of students’ professional competences for their social and professional integration. But the professional knowledge is not enough to motivate the students to learn during the courses. Keeping students constantly motivated as an important factor in student learning is an insurmountable objective of education.
Drawing from theory and practice, the paper proposes one of the motivational strategies which improve the students’ interest to learn, also the communicational and proactive competences.
More that, this method can make teaching/learning relevant to students’ lives.

Purpose of Study:
This study starts from the premise that for a successful professional career the students must engage themselves to learn, to develop their own study goals, know own their potential and develop it.
This article reports an investigation into the relationship between students’ perceptions of their own professional development and motivation to study at university.

The objectives of the study are:
- presenting an innovative didactic method which is inspired from the nowadays reality: the Parliamentary Debate Method (PDM)
- correlating the method with the academic educational finalities.
- exploring the teaching/learning effects of using PDM;
- offering to teachers some practical examples to use PDM.
For data collection, two research instruments were used for this study as mentioned here under Questionnaire and Direct Observation.
The sample taken for the study was 35 students who enrolled in the first level of studies at university. Using data, we highlighted the potential of this method, as reported by students.

Results of Study:
The paper presents a new didactical modality, a more attractive and suitable one, which contributes to stimulate and develop the student motivation for learning. Using PDM the students learn to (de)construct a discourse, to use argues and modalities for accepting/ sustaining/ completing a discourse, to discuss problems and solutions.
