Abstract:
Problem Statement:
This paper proposes an analysis of educational process during communist regime in Romania, from political and ideological perspective.

Purpose of Study:
This study starts from the premise that the textbooks edited in communist period were an important instrument of ideology and political regime. More that, the history textbook had a such contribution on education of people, children, younger and adults for socialist society. Offering many images, texts, additional readings, exercises, the history textbooks had given models, convincers, beliefs, values which effected more the student’s consciousness and behavior.
The paper presents some aspects referring on the needs of communist ideology to educate the people from a social and subjugation perspective. In order to capture these influences, we analyze the Romanian History textbooks.

Results of Study:
This approach argues that the textbooks used in Romanian schools of communist regime were able to implement the ideological principles and values, especially the ones that focused on the collectivism and social subordination.
