Abstract:
This research relates to educational guidance and career selection in young people when they finish high school. Also, this work deals with intervention in their university entrance. This means talking about the University and society. For this it is necessary to meet the educational guidance as an institutional role towards universal education level. Universities are driven by the inertia of the scientific and technological instrumentalism detrimental to an internal meditation, a loss of values, which transform educational process by reducing them to a measurable and ephemeral, where the value is given by text and not the context. Quality in the task of the counselor is certified at the classroom, in the office or use of TICs, and it is not considered if the students really use them or not. This research raises career choice and admission to the University from the differences between the desires, interests, possibilities and opportunities for students, depending on structural values such as the family income, parents, and school educational and economic conditions in the region. The results show that the intervention of the counselor may affect the choice of career, especially when students’ opinion is considered; what they think, feel and expect in their professional future and admission to University. Also in research is known of the necessity of orientation and its proposed an intervention for admission to higher education and career choice. Three questionnaires were applied to a population of 134 students of the High School of Salvatierra from the University of Guanajuato, about academic achievement, socioeconomic levels, vocational preferences, needs of continuity of their university studies and educational guidance.
