Abstract:
In this work we analyze a blended-learning experience in the Postgraduate Course “Modelos y Optimización en Redes” (Network Models and Optimization) of the University of Castilla-La Mancha. In particular, we show how the use of a blended-learning methodology based on the employment of virtual resources, such as the course management system “Moodle” and some computer Algebra systems, jointly with the personal supervision of each student, allows us to achieve the course objectives successfully.
We think that this methodology is the most consistent with the new European Higher Education Area, where students become learners and active thinkers instead of passive listeners, and the role of the teacher is to lead learners to relevant information, helping them to find and use it, in order to acquire the knowledge and the expected skills.
We finish providing several conclusions and proposing possible improvements for this blended-learning methodology.
