Abstract:
The current research analyzes the relation between the perception about the knowledge of the free software tools like Open Office on one hand and the self concept, the academic results and the pattern used in the learning-teaching area on the other hand. This research aims to elucidate whether the instruction in some tools of the free software inside of the ICT supported by cooperative learning methodologies allow to the students to get better academic achievements, to have a better knowledge of those tools and a better self concept and at the same time try to establish relations between all those variables. For this research, the students of the first and the second academic year of Business arrangement Grade of the University of the Basque Country have been compared; in all of those comparisons, different learning and teaching patters have been used. The results obtained have shown that the active methodologies do not mean an improvement of the academic results, nor the perception of the free software, neither the auto concept of the students body. On the other hand, is confirmed that the level of the self concept is correlated with the academic result and the perception of the knowledge of the free software tools used.
