Abstract:
In order to improve the academic performance of first year students of the two degrees (Degree in Mining and Energy Technology Engineering and Degree in Civil Engineering) offered at the Technical School of Mining and Civil Engineering at the University of Basque Country, a detailed study of the results obtained in each of the subjects based on the academic requirements for the new degrees has been conducted. In addition to that, we have made an analysis of the weak areas that the students have in each subject. To accomplish this, we have made tests at the beginning and at the end of the courses. In this way, we compiled information about the difficulties that students face. With the results obtained in this study we have identified weak points in the students’ curriculum. Consequently, this data will be used to design academic activities to strengthen areas where we detected weaknesses.
