Abstract:
Medical Students' participations in clinical examinations and procedures, are giving them the chance of gaining experience and constructing medical skills.
Interactive learning is applied in King Saud University, College of Medicine (CMKSU) through blended learning approach where e-learning tools augment traditional teaching methods to improve learning experiences. Computer assisted instruction uses computers to aid in the delivery of multimedia and other learning materials for learning and teaching. A well-designed e-learning experience would motivate students to become more engaged with content. Interactive learning/teaching shifts the focus from a passive, teacher-centered model to one that is active and learner centered, offering a stronger learning stimulus. Interactivity helps to maintain the learner’s interest and provides means for individual practice and reinforcement. E-learning is more efficient because learners gain knowledge, skills, and attitudes faster than through traditional instructor-led methods.

Smart classrooms are an important element of a blended learning environment allowing students to attend remote lectures, live/recoded surgeries and procedures, and examine patients’ medical and radiology history.

This paper discusses how smart classrooms are designed and implemented in medical education. It describes the technologies implemented in classrooms, and benefits obtained by implementing smart classrooms within the blended learning approach adopted by CMKSU.
