Abstract:
Higher education sector is rapidly adopting latest trends to enhance teaching and learning experience for the betterment of the stakeholders, which primarily includes students and the educators. While classifying teaching methodologies in a broad manner, the most popular terms that come in the picture are passive classroom model and the active classroom model. Where the passive classroom is more teacher centric, the active classroom is student centric that involves learning by means of activities and interaction among the students. One of the most popular active teaching methodology is Flipped Teaching methodology, in which teacher shares the learning resources with the class well in advance and during the class s/he plays a role of facilitator. In many institutions, flipped teaching is implemented successfully and shown very positive results. But it has always been a challenging task for preparing and organizing the appropriate learning resources for the students. As long as the teacher is well experienced in utilizing digital technology for developing new resources, such as an e-book, video lectures, etc., it is not an issue. But sometimes, some teachers are still depending on ready to use resources for flipping their classes. Open Educational Resources (OER) is one of the best options for such scenarios where the teachers can search and access several readily available free educational resources online and share with the students in their classes. OER is not limited to text or digital media content, but also it could be very useful for researchers in the education sector. This research paper analyses such readily available OER and proposes a framework, which can be implemented in flipped classroom. The results of the literature study show that already many OER sites are available online and it will provide a comparative study among them. The proposed methodology in this research paper shows that OER could be easily implemented in flipped classroom and it can save a large amount of time for the educators in developing new digital assets.
