ASSESSING MULTIMEDIA DELIVERY ON CREATIVE UNDERSTANDING AND MOTIVATION TO LEARN ENGLISH LITERATURE AT KING SAUD UNIVERSITY

Abstract:
The current study aimed to assess the effects of a proposed two different delivery modes which contain [1] video, audio, and hypertext; [2] video and hypertext only in teaching Drama course at King Saud University (KSU) on some learning outcomes. The present study attempted to assess the effects of the proposed strategy on students’ learning motivation towards Drama of the play (Othello) by Shakespeare and their creative understanding of the play. The study conducted on a sample of 86 students who are enrolled in a college Drama course. The sample was randomly divided into three groups; forty (40) students in the control group; twenty three (23) students in the first experimental group, and another twenty three (23) students in the second experimental group. The research instruments included: Keller’s motivation scale, Creative Understanding test that was modified according to the study aims and context. Data analysis revealed that, there was a statistical significant difference between the two experimental and the control group in their learning motivation toward Drama. The results also indicated a statistical difference between the three groups in the creative understanding test. Keywords:
