Abstract:
The purpose behind this study is to explore how Salomon 5-stage model can be utilized for developing Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for learning English Language and assess the effect of the developed materials on college students’ English Language Speaking Skills. A developmental research strategy which integrates quantitative and qualitative research based on a quasi-experimental design was utilized. The study sample consisted of forty-eight Orientation programme students, who enrolled in the Royal University for Women (RUW). The instruments used in the present study consisted of the designed electronic material, Speaking Test marking criteria checklist and Skype. The study findings revealed that there was statistically significant differences in experimental and control group means English language speaking skills in their post-test i.e. (developing VLEs based of Salmon 5-stage model proved to enhance subjects English language speaking skills as well as their motivation for learning English) in English. Future recommendation and suggestions for language educators, teacher training administrators and e-learning specialist are presented.
