Abstract:
An active classroom is defined as the one which is student centric and where students participate in order to learn new concepts. Higher education sector is always trying to update their teaching and learning strategies with respect to the present technology in the market. And sustainable techniques for enhanced learning experience among students are always being explored by the researchers in education technology. One of the most successful solutions for the above context is Virtual Laboratory. Virtual laboratories are the labs which consist of simulations and computer animations on a remote system, which can be accessed simultaneously by more than one number of students from any place in the World. Students can perform their lab exercises, attempt some interactive assessments, at their own pace. This results in a big cost cutting factor and moreover, the hardware and software resources of the institutions can be utilized by the students even after the official working hours, from their homes. This research paper provides analysis of many such virtual laboratories and finally suggests a framework for implementing this concept in the active classroom to enhance teaching and learning experience in higher education.
