Abstract:
Technology’s transformative effects are well established. The current rapid rise of mobile computing, cloud computing, and social and collaborative learning is transforming education. Today’s students are digital natives, and the demand for digital technologies in academia is rapidly increasing. To stimulate the innovative use of technology for a better teaching and learning experience, faculty and instructional designers need to collaborate together for establishing an instructional design process to facilitate educational innovation through implementation. This paper offers insight into a proposed educational innovation through an implementation process and shares the learning outcomes and evaluation methodologies of three projects that were developed at our campus as part of a Teaching with Technology Competition. The three projects were: Interactive and Collaborative Mobile Learning Platform for Engineers, Software Visualization Tool for Learning 3D Objects, and Active Learning via Smart Student Response System in an Engineering Classroom.
