Abstract:
The Math Kangaroo is the world's largest international mathematics competition in which millions of students from elementary, middle and high schools participate, in six levels according to age. The competition is organized under the umbrella of the Kangaroo Without Borders Association, which brings together more than 90 countries.

The problems of this competition are selected from a database that is nourished by the contribution of the members of the association. Topics covered in the problems include mostly number theory, algebra, geometry, and counting. A large number of problems are in logic and many of them involve more than one of the areas mentioned above. The problems are multiple choice and their difficulty includes easy, medium and more challenging problems.

Behind this competition there is an international community of educators, who, in addition to working to carry out the competition, are integrated into other educational projects. Projects, which, like the Mathematical Kangaroo competition, have as their primary objective the popularization of mathematics.

In this work we present the structure of the tests, the different levels of difficulty, the different mathematical areas that are included in the exams, and the pedagogical strategies that are behind the creation and selection of the problems for the competition.
