Abstract:
In contemporary international communication in business, culture, manufacture and services specialists as interlocutors use the functional varieties of language, such as languages for special purposes for which the problem of terminology is considered as one of the priorities. Especially in the sphere of training specialists acquiring a second language and translators working in the sphere of specialised translation terminology teaching and learning becomes an urgent demand. The authors consider terminology as the basic part of a specialised sublanguage and terminological units (both standard and non-standard) along with nomenclature as specific language units which answer particular conditions and requirements of communication within a certain area of human activity. Within the limits of specialised dialogue terms perform communicative function, what means that they express concepts and objects of a certain professional sphere by language means corresponding to them. Acquisition of terminology requires time and purposeful activity. In the article the content and language integrated method as a relatively new approach to language learning is discussed from the viewpoint of its efficiency in terminology teaching processes. The authors offer various variants of this method application based on the fields of economy, medicine and aviation in English and in German for university students with their major in translation.
