Abstract:
One of the core challenges that modern medical education faces is developing professionalism in future doctors. Professionalism is a complex term and one particular learning course cannot equip a student with it. Accordingly, one learning course cannot determine this learning outcome and of course, it cannot be assessed in the framework of one subject. From this point of view, portfolio is a very productive tool that enables educators to gradually assess students, to continuously give feedback to them about their weak points that they need to develop and to constantly observe the efficiency of tuition while implementing it. BAU International University Batumi uses different assessment methods while assessing the portfolio, particularly: self-assessment of a student, feedback of a teacher and a tutor, a case report from the clinic, which is assessed by mentor and special commission and 360° assessment, which is again assessed by mentor and clinic staff (which he has clinical rotations in) and patient. Because portfolio is a complex system of assessment, its management and implementation cannot be successfully achieved by one or two lecturers.

The research aims at revealing the difficulties encountered while implementing the portfolio, at searching the ways of its successful management and making SWOT analyses. While carrying out the research, questionnaires and focus group interviews have been used.

The research was conducted at BAU International University Batumi.

This research revealed some difficulties of portfolio management, which are encountered while using either electronic or human resources.
