Abstract:
The main purpose of this research was to explore basic factors related with students’ commitment to university and it’s educational, research and other related programs and curriculums in order to know why students’ performance in university is extremely far from their primary image of a good student? And why should their performance that was quite good in universities’ first years in most cases of sociology students decreases in next years?
In This research we have assumed university as an organization that students consume lots of their time (in particular period of education) in this organization so if they do not have commitment to this organization and its goals or if they do not have an ideal image of themselves to reach by utilizing this organization’s potentials so how they can have good educational, social and etc performances in this context? So our research has been done on the basis of Talcot Parsons’ Theory of the four basic subsystems in social life.
The method of research was survey and it has studied a sample of 150 among 300 students in department of sociology of Shiraz University.
The findings showed that sex, age… Of students has an affirmative/negative relationship with students’ commitment to university and its programs.
