Abstract:
Our environment is faced to many hazards, so increasing environmental knowledge by using all of available facilities and tools is urgent.
To increase this kind of knowledge, we can use environmental education and educational technologies as a tool to facilitate learning.
In this research, we examine one of the newest educational methods (educational films) that has great attraction for learners. We used cluster sampling and randomly choose 60 students, in 2 elementary schools (boys & girls). We separate each school to 2 groups: control & experimental group. In control group, teacher taught subject (that was about Ozone layer) and in experimental group we had treatment, by showing film, same subject. First we gave them a questionnaire to find their educational and individual chasacteristics. Then we had 3 tests:
Pretest to be confident about equality of knowledge of groups about the subject, postest to observe the predicted changes in dependent variable and at last remember test after 1 week to see how much they remember subjects they have learned.
For data analysis, we used t-test, variance and x2 by spss.
Results show that educational films can incease environmental knowledge and incite students to study more about these kind of subjects, rather than another method (Teaching by teacher) and sex has not effect in learning.
Nearly all of students preferred learning both by teacher and films (Mixture of 2 methods).
