Abstract:
One of the most relevant problems that both Universities in their educational center aspect and university students themselves are currently facing is that of dropping out of studies (Tuero et al. 2018). Indeed, according to data provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports in Spain (MECD, 2022), the dropout rate of first-year students reaches 21.3%, raising the overall dropout rate to 33.2%. These data entail negative consequences that not only affect the student himself, but also the institution where he is immersed (Álvarez-Pérez, López-Aguilar, 2017; Castaño et al., 2008; Villar et al., 2012), and the society as a whole. The objective of this project is to determine the factors that affect the desertion rate of university degree and analyse to what extent all of them can be relevant in the dropout rates, so that the appropriate measures can be articulated. Data from several years and different degrees have been considered for the retrospective analysis at the Rey Juan Carlos University. Considered data sources were taken under the quality assurance commission under the supervision of the vice chancellor of students from the Rey Juan Carlos University.
