Abstract:
The sustainability and survival of any organization are constantly being threatened by incidences of organizational crisis. Hence, scholars and practitioners asserted that effective management of the organizational crisis is crucial to the continued existence of any business amidst the ever-changing business environment. Consequently, this study critically examines the models and approaches employed in crisis management in line with global best practices and how it can be reshaped for organizational success. Specifically, the authors review the theoretical underpinnings of organizational crisis management research, categorize the opportunities for managers to be involved in crisis management processes, examine the models and approaches employed in supporting organizations' crisis management efforts globally and how it can be reshaped for organizational success. This study employed a systematic review to gather, evaluate and synthesize all accessible research and data appropriate to a predefined research question. To address this issue, the authors proposed an integrative framework of crises and crisis management derived through an extensive literature review from high-quality journal database (IEEEXplore, DOAJ, Digital Library, Elsevier, Emerald, Science Direct, Inderscience, Taylor & Francis, Scopus and Google Scholar) published between the years 2010 – 2019. The keywords used to search the related literature review are” “crisis management”, “conflict management”, “success factors”, “organisational success”, “sustainability”, and some other keywords. As a result, a total of 125 articles related to the management of the organisational crisis, in general, were downloaded. This paper demonstrates that the success of any organization is closely linked to repeated activities such as reviewing and redesigning its crisis management psychology, approach and communication style. It was concluded that global crisis management requires different approaches and frameworks for all aspects of the crisis, including, leadership, ethics, and communication. Keywords:
