Abstract:
The study investigated Nigerian Students’ Perception on Teaching of Business Studies as foundations for inculcating self-reliance. Three research hypotheses were formulated and tested in this study. The sample of this study comprises of two hundred (200) Junior Secondary School Students selected from five (5) secondary schools in Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State. Data was collected using only one research instrument i.e. the questionnaire designed and validated by the researcher, the instrument was in three sections. Data collected for the study were analyzed using frequency counts, simple percentages, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Independent t-test analysis at 0.05 level of significance.

The study revealed that there is no significant difference in the way the sampled Nigerian students with different age group perceived the teaching of Business Studies as foundation for inculcating self-reliance. There is no significant difference in the perception of male and female students towards the teaching of Business studies as foundation for inculcating self-reliance and there is no significant difference in the samples Nigerian students with different religious beliefs perception on the teaching of Business Studies as foundation for inculcating self-reliance. Based on these findings recommendations were made most especially the need to lay more emphasis on effective teaching of related topics to self-reliance in Business Studies Curriculum at the Junior secondary schools.
