Abstract:
One of the conditions for promotion for every professional soldier is the training in career courses; very often related to the promotion to a higher rank. It is a specific kind of life-long learning, which provides the Armed Forces a required grade of the staff of particular ranks. The optimal training of military professionals is based on the development of the security environment, it is related to the system of career management and reflects the needs of the armed forces. Moreover based on intensification of international cooperation, it is required that career training corresponds with common standards set by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The main focus is on the career training of officers, which are supposed to be the crucial part of the staff of armies. The training of officers in career courses in both the Czech Republic and Belgium is introduced. These systems of training in the careers courses and their importance to promotion in chosen countries are explained. The comparison of those two systems is done; the owerview of equivalent foreign courses is also added. The conclusion includes several inspiring suggestions for both countries.
