Abstract:
While the former Newtonian Paradigms regarded the universe as linear, predictable and deterministic, the dynamic and highly complicated communities of the 21st century are based on extensive computer networks that are readily accessible via the Internet all over the world. In the era of globalization of information and dissemination of ideas, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) provides the learners with a variety of authentic texts in their original form and context that can be approached interactively and accessed at any time. The present study was an attempt at elaborating on the impact of recent technological innovations, namely multimedia computers and the Internet on the substitution of interactive computer software for traditional textbooks in the field of Computer Assisted Language Learning.
