USING E-LEARNING TOOLS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING BUSINESS SUBJECTS IN SECONDARY EDUCATION

Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the:
1- Level of using e-learning tools in teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education in Bahrain.
2- Significant differences in using e-learning tools in teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education in Bahrain according to gender and subject.
3- Obstacles facing business education teachers of using e-learning tools in teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education in Bahrain.
To achieve these objectives, the researcher depended on the following: Review the literature, the results of previous studies, preparing a questionnaire about e-learning tools that can be used in teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education, in addition to an open question about obstacles facing business education teachers when using these tools. Then, the questionnaire was applied to (57) teachers of business subjects (29 Female and 28 Male) in secondary education in Bahrain.
The results showed the following:
- Using e-learning tools in the teaching and learning of business subjects in secondary education came the order as follows: (1) Power Point (2) Web sites (3) Video Clips (4) CD (5) Educational forums (6) Groups discussion (7) Dashboards (8) E-mail (9) Video conferencing (10) Mailing lists.
- There are no significant statistical differences between male and female teachers using e-learning tools generally when teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education.
- There are significant statistical differences between male and female teachers using PowerPoint when teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education. The differences are in favour of female teachers.
- There are significant statistical differences between male and female teachers using educational forums when teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education. The differences are in favour of male teachers.
- Regarding each tool of e-learning, the results are as follows:
- PowerPoint : There are significant statistical differences in favour of accounting, economic, and office management.
- Video clips: There are significant statistical differences in favour of economic and office management.
- Educational forums: There are significant statistical differences in favour of economic, office management, and travel and tourism agencies.
- Regarding the other tools of e-learning, there are not any significant statistical differences in using them when teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education except for economic and accounting where there are significant statistical differences in favour of economic.
- there are many obstacles facing business education teachers of using e-learning tools in teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education in Bahrain, The most important obstacles that study's findings include: The weakness of Infrastructure, moral incentives for teachers to employ e-learning tools in the teaching and learning business subjects, the level of English among students in secondary education and need employ e-learning tools in teaching to high experiences.
- Recommendations & Suggestions: In light of this results the study contained recommendations to develop using e-learning tools in teaching and learning business subjects in secondary education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.Keywords:
