Abstract:
Embracing natural lighting in corporate interiors represents a transformative shift in workspace design, transcending its role as a mere aesthetic enhancer to become a catalyst for health, well-being, productivity, and environmental sustainability. This research aims to delve into the multifaceted effects of natural lighting on corporate environments, advocating for a comprehensive understanding of its benefits and challenges. Such knowledge is pivotal in educating interior design students about the profound impact of natural lighting.

Existing research underscores the profound impact of natural light on human well-being, both psychologically and physiologically. It also underscores its role in energy conservation and environmental sustainability. Incorporating natural lighting into workplace design necessitates a thorough exploration of its effects, striking a balance between its positive influences and potential challenges such as glare and thermal discomfort. This approach enlightens and informs the audience about the potential of natural lighting to optimize sensory experiences.

This research, unique in its amalgamation of insights from interior design theory, environmental psychology, and sustainability studies, employs a qualitative, philosophical framework. Through a comprehensive analysis of interior designs within corporate interiors and examining office case studies, the study presents a wide-ranging perspective on natural lighting's role in corporate interiors. This method fosters a deep, contextual comprehension of its influence on human behavior, organizational culture, and environmental footprint, making a significant contribution to the field of interior design.

The research findings underscore the significant role of natural lighting in enhancing mood, well-being, and cognitive function, thereby fostering a work environment that stimulates productivity and creativity. Notably, employee satisfaction and engagement levels are higher, with participants attributing these improvements to the improved quality of the workspace. Energy assessments further validate the reduced reliance on artificial lighting, highlighting the environmental and financial benefits of natural light. However, the study also highlights design challenges, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches to manage glare and thermal comfort through adaptive and responsive design strategies. This insight empowers the audience with the knowledge that these challenges can be overcome.

Confirming the essential role of natural lighting in corporate interior design, this study illuminates its extensive benefits across health, productivity, sustainability, and aesthetics. The findings advocate for a deliberate, comprehensive strategy in natural light integration, tackling potential obstacles with innovative design solutions. The qualitative, philosophical approach deepens the conversation around natural lighting, promoting its strategic implementation as a cornerstone of sustainable, people-centric design in corporate settings. It calls for ongoing research into natural lighting's capabilities, urging a unified effort among designers, architects, and all stakeholders to forge workspaces that genuinely bolster human and environmental well-being. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of incorporating this knowledge into interior design education to prepare future designers to utilize natural light in their projects effectively.
