Abstract:
The article is a study based on The School@Work project (Programme: Erasmus+ KA2 – Strategic Partnership) which involves partners from Italy, Belgium, France, Lithuania, Romania and Spain. The article outlines the objectives and activities of the project which aims at improving the job orientation services and experiences offered by schools and establishing a more concrete and effective cooperation between schools and the world of work in order to enhance students’ learning experience and motivate them to learn and complete their studies. The project equips school teachers, advisors and counsellors with the necessary skills and tools for better understanding pupils’ individual attitudes, interests and potential skills to be spent in their future career and valorise them in their learning process as a means of overcoming pupils’ demotivation. It also provides school teachers, advisors and counsellors with the information related to the transversal skills that companies and recruiting services look for when selecting staff in order to use them as a tool to motivate students at risk of early school leaving to continue their studies. The article also introduces the tool kit that can be used by school counsellors and teachers to design and implement personalised guidance services to motivate students to complete their studies through the analysis of the personal attitudes of the student and of the skills that are requested by the job market. The project creates an e-learning based course for teachers and counsellors on how to motivate students to continue and complete their educational path at school, by identifying their attitudes and specific skills and highlighting transversal skills that are required by the companies and recruiting services.
