Abstract:
The present study demonstrates the profits from using the new information technologies in the teacher training programmes for Primary Schools. In this case, we focused our attention on the analysis of the positive aspects of designing and using the WebQuest in the teaching process. The WebQuest and, more specifically, its design process were considered to be the perfect tool to develop and put into practice different relevant contents. First of all, this technological resource has been used in Higher Education with the aim of favouring the learning of the necessary curricula elements by the students in the social science programmes. Together with this, we would like to underline that the use of such a tool allows us to put special emphasis on the importance of planning properly every sequence of activities. More related to the social science and its specific contents is this last objective: to favor and encourage our students to select and treat critically the information used as basis of the main task proposed in the WebQuest. After all, the social sciences should stimulate the student´s critical awareness, and the quoted tool provides us with the perfect context to develop such an attitude.
