Abstract:
In 18th century Laplace, Bernoulli and Euler established the basic equations of the Mechanics of Fluids. They were Navier and Stokes, in the 19th century, who established the fundamental equations that describe a royal flow in viscous fluids. At the beginning of the 20th century, Prandtl developed the theory of the boundary layer as a simplification of Reynolds's solution for Navier-Stokes's equations.
In 1970 the technologies of numerical resolution were put into practice, developing algorithms for the not stationary solution of Navier-Stokes's equations and the solution for an average value (RANSE: Reynolds Average Navier Stokes Equations).
Since then numerical methods like finite differences, finite elements and finite volumes have been in use with good results. There is born, this way, the dynamics of Fluids Computerized (CFD).
The code STAR_CCM + of CFD, it is a technology of shaped for the simulation of the movements of a fluid and of the phenomena of transport associated with the diverse thermal and hydrodynamic processes. The same technology there use the majority of the codes of computational dynamics of fluids included (CFD) the available ones of commercial form as the FLUENT, ANSYS-FLUENT, CFX and the opened code OpenFOAM.
The studies of Post degree, they are directed for advanced pupils of Masters and Doctorate. In the School of Technical Architecture the studies of post degree are in the area of the materials for the building, constructive systems, energy and sustainability, facilities, sensors…
We try to initiate these pupils in the foundations, uses and application of a numerical technology, since it is the Code STAR_CCM +, to the building. This technology can be very usefully both for the exercise of his profession and for the development of lines of innovative investigation in the field of the building / construction.
