Abstract:
Introduction:
The acquisition of basic skills to operate effectively in a children emergency is a fundamental aspect in the formation of any health professional. Knowledge of immediate response to an emergency is often required in Health Sciences. It would be desirable for Health Sciences students, such as Dentistry and Medicine students, to be able to recognize and adequately treat health emergencies.

Objectives:
-Establishing innovative teaching methodologies to improve the teaching/learning system for emergencies in Medicine and Dentistry (dental trauma management, basic CPR and airway obstruction in children) through the virtual platform of the Virtual Campus and online learning environments.
-Evaluation of this new learning method in order to see the improvement in knowledge acquisition on management of pediatric emergencies.

Materials and methods:
Computer items of the research team will be used.
The project includes the inter-cooperation between professors of the Faculty of Dentistry and Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, and it will involve three phases. First of all, the proposed theorical-practical innovation units will be developed and launched with a pilot intragroup test. Effectiveness, achievement of objectives and adequacy of innovative developed material will be assessed. Measures will be implemented on students through the Virtual Campus and the assessment of the theoretical and practical assimilation will take place. Finally, we will proceed to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the process on the student learning using validated questionnaires.

Results and conclusions:
Dental trauma is the main emergency in the field of Dentistry. The International Association of Dental Traumatology recommends the dissemination of actions that lead to improvements in dental trauma training and prevention, and thereby minimize the consequences of this patology in humans.
Teaching of basic management of airway accidental obstruction and cardiopulmonary arrest in children is perfectly systematized from supranational scientific bodies such as the European Resuscitation Council and the American Heart Association.
To date, training in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and management of airway obstruction in medical and dental degrees is based on a theoretical and practical learning and generally a theoretical evaluation, but sometimes also practical.
Online teaching based on videos and other audiovisual materials, with the self-assessment of the contents, plays an increasingly important role in the biomedical field. In this regard, it has been recently found in the Nordic countries that "on-line" training may be at least as effective as classroom-based teaching practices.
Practical assessment in simulated scenarios is the closest approximation to reality.
