Abstract:
Globalization led to an economic paradigm shift and the present still induces weak signals of a permanent irreversible change. These realities imply high challenges for the academic world and its dynamics. Professors not just have to prepare students to deal with complex problem solving in the actual societal environment, influenced not just by the technical development, but also to understand these approaches for themselves, beyond the specific engineering facts and learning tools correspondent to a Technical University. The present paper analyses and presents the status quo at the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages, based on the curricula and the international EU-projects of development of entrepreneurial skills it is involved in. It underlines the entrepreneurial potential launched by the creation of IT projects developed by bachelor, master or PhD students from this faculty, especially those based on emerging technologies (such as virtual and augmented reality, machine learning or internet of things) and considers a future model, to enhance student entrepreneurial innovativeness in a sustainable way. Based on two scenarios, the paper also takes a critical look to the core values and vital skills that are mandatory for the young specialists in engineering.
