Abstract:
The video-based e-learning system has emerged as a new method of skill training and knowledge acquisition, especially to demonstrate the nonrepresentational teaching materials, so it encourages both academia and industry to invest resources in the adoption of this system. The background and preparation of this project are introduced in the first part. This project is based on video materials for the learning of textiles evaluations by international standards. In the past, the details of these fabric and textiles testing methods were not completely studied until the students work on related positions. The video materials developed for this project will teach them the textiles and fabric testing standards, which provide the experience before the students graduate from school. Supported from a commercial testing company, the videos are much related to the state-of-art industrial testing process. An advanced management system enables supervisors and tutors to update the videos from time to time. In the second part, the system hierarchy is also discussed. Considering the compatibility and speed of different kinds of computer systems (PC and Mac), Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) and MySQL are used to produce effective, interactive Web applications, and the Flash Media Server (FMS) is implemented as the video server for networks efficiency and compatibility reasons.
