Abstract:
The equipping of school teaching and learning rooms with modern information technology enables the integration of new teaching and learning scenarios. This creates a new quality of learning experiences, e.g. through project- and problem-oriented learning, group work and the use of media-based teaching and learning offers. This increases the demands on school learning environments and with them the challenges for the process of planning and designing teaching rooms. Planned methods and tools are available in great variety, but lag behind the complex requirements for the design of learning ans teaching rooms. This applies in particular to the joint use of spatial, educational science and media technology design approaches for an interdisciplinary planning process for the development of modern teaching and learning rooms. It is therefore imperative not to place the technical artifact at the center of research, but rather the development and testing or evaluation of educational environmental concepts, taking into account specific didactic scenarios. An interdisciplinary design and planning processs together with actors from education, architecture and media technology needs an integrated planning approach on a spatial meta-level, which includes both physical and digital environment shares.

In the project " Lehrraum_digital " was developed an environmental concept "teaching and learning", by an interdisciplinary project group together with experts from education, education, architecture and media planning / IT. The environmental concept is based on interviews with experts from the fields of architecture, IT and education as well as interviews with teachers, from case studies conducted at several vocational schools and companies in 2017. A central concern of an environmental concept for teaching and learning has been the formulation of requirements that align the planning process and stakeholders from the outset with the overall environmental quality of an integrated teaching and learning environment. In addition, the environmental concept represents all measures that are essential for the sustainable success of teaching and learning environments and thus can be regarded as part of the design task teaching and learning space.

In addition to the actual planning process, this also includes the integration of suitable teaching and learning environments into existing u.a. Learning organizational and curricular structures (integration), sustainable anchoring through support measures, i.a. the organization and competence development (support and management), as well as the proof of timeliness and effectiveness (evaluation).
The paper deepens the individual aspects of the developed environmental concept, discusses the need for environmental concepts that tackle digital and physical spaces as an common hybrid environments, and presents the results of the interview conducted within the framework of the Lehrraum_digital project.
