Abstract:
According to UNESCO the media literacy has the aim to train and provide knowledge, skills and necessary attitudes to collaborate with the means and the technologies. Under these guidelines, media education brings together scholars and specialists in interdisciplinary bodies to study media practice in different social contexts, such it is the case of the educational system. The use, application and implementation of technological tools in the university environment should influence media education and therefore should be the subject of research. The present research presents the results of the analysis of the use, application and access to technology by newly admitted students in the Technological University of the Mixteca (UTM).The new students of the UTM have expressed experience in the use and application of technological tools in their academic activities, and based on the full-time pedagogical model implemented in the University and the use of virtual educational platforms as part of the educational strategy, currently the student has the opportunity to integrate into the educational process with greater probabilities of completing and accrediting their school year by increasing academic efficiency, in addition, the incorporation of technological tools in the Teaching-Learning process, as well as the availability and accessibility of students to these tools, will contribute to achieving the institutional objective to offer students a quality education.
