Abstract:
Academic education in technical faculties places special emphasis on student teamwork, because when they will work in the industry, they will have to adapt to working in teams. They will have to create and innovate in collaboration with their colleagues, increasing the performance of the group they are a part of, but also of the performance of the organization. The paper focuses on the problems faced by Romanian students from Economic Engineering in Mechanical Field in developing projects in various disciplines in the context of the pandemic. Conducting an online study of a group of third-year students in this specialization, we have discovered many aspects by which the pandemic has influenced the understanding and development of individual and team student projects in various subjects. The numerous obstacles reported by students in solving problems and carrying out projects are based on causes due to the pandemic, but also unresolved causes from before it. With the help of the tools specific to general and quality management – like problem tree method, scorecard method, Fishbone diagram – we have synthesized at the end of the paper some suggestions meant to eliminate or diminish the obstacles encountered by engineering students in online learning, especially in problem and project-based learning.
