Abstract:
Digital literacy has become a must for full citizenship integration and participation in the contemporary world. When dealing with public secondary school education in Brazil, however, the lack of traditional literacy is a previous obstacle yet to be surpassed. This article approaches the experience and the results of the utilization of Internet-based technologies and digital community for teaching creative writing for Brazilian public secondary school education students.

In a high-interactivity environment, with constant tutoring and coaching, 2700 students have been accompanied in their progress in both traditional and digital literacy and in the impacts of their participation in a digital community mediated in the users’ ethic and social formation.

The reports on the experience and the analysis of the results comprise this article.
