Abstract:
Due to the development of information technology, the access to education in technical fields is changing. Significant change was recorded in the field of machine building education. The role of descriptive geometry has been taken over by 3-dimensional CAD software. The teacher faces the difficult task to explain the complex motions of mechanisms in machines. The article shows the advantages of the new approach to teaching machine parts using CAD software. An old approach is described using a 2-dimensional representation of the components that are arranged in the spatial mechanism. Subsequently, the same mechanism is presented using 3-dimensional CAD software. By comparing approaches, it is clear that new CAD software programs make it much easier to understand the structure and function of complex mechanisms. In addition, new sophisticated CAD systems allow you to visualize the video function. At the end of this paper, both approaches to teaching machine design are compared both from the student's point of view and from the teacher's point of view.
