Abstract:
The central idea of the paper is to bring some light upon the role that Higher Education Services (HES) plays in the present society and implicitly in the business sector. We argue that education and the educational system are two distinct institutions but which are strongly connected. Education is a fundamental right and a state responsibility while the other is the framework, the education system. Within the first section of the paper we focus on arguing the major role that the university plays in today’s global economy. The university has the noble mission of developing these existential milestones of human existence. Universities act, like economic entities, within a complex global environment facing an ever growing competition towards attracting and keeping the best talents and also towards responding to ever changing social needs. We bring into focus that researches have reached the conclusion that universities together with national governance, local governance and companies are the main factors for economic and social growth and development. The debated issue in our paper is how can contribute universities towards developing adaptation capacities, knowledge and efficient implementation of new technologies of local companies. Thus we said that the university acts like a broker between researchers and local entrepreneurs. Within the second part of the paper we point out the results of a comparative analysis regarding the dispersion of universities and students number in different states. In this regard we concluded that there must exist an optimization of the population number and the facilitation of access towards higher education services.
