Abstract:
Computer Science is one area where differences between female and male population in undergraduate and graduate levels, are not as big as in other scientific disciplines. We analyze woman participation during the last four decades in the Computer Science Research main areas respect to men. The data are taken from the most relevant sources for the world’s largest educational and scientific societies Web of Science and the Associaton for Computing Machinery. The main areas were considered from the 2012 Version of the ACM Computing Classification System (CCS). We present graphs to show the woman participation by area, year, country and institution. There are notable differences between the results obtained from the two sources.

In accordance to the Computer Research Association (CRA) in 2010-2011 of the master's degrees awarded in computer science, 75.4% of the degrees were awarded to males, also the percentage of women among people who earned bachelor's
degrees in computer science decreased, falling from 13.8% in 2009-10 to 11.7% in 2010-11. Women in Computer have had a main roll, because they were the first programmers at the beginning.
