Abstract:
E-learning comprises all forms of electronically supported learning and teaching. The Information and communication systems, whether networked or not, serve as specific media to implement the learning process. In higher education especially, the increasing tendency is to create a virtual learning environment in which all aspects of a course are handled through a consistent user interface standard throughout the institution. A growing number of physical universities, as well as newer online-only colleges, have begun to offer a select set of academic degree and certificate programs via the Internet at a wide range of levels and in a wide range of disciplines. While some programs require students to attend some campus classes or orientations, many are delivered completely online. In addition, several universities offer online student support services, such as online advising and registration, e-counseling, online textbook purchase, student governments and student newspapers.
Our docent team has used lots of virtual resources in order to help students to understand difficult concepts especially about pharmacokinetics. Our last goal has been to introduce test on line in order, not only to assess the students’ knowledge but to provide a new tool of self learning for students.
Our philosophy implies that assessment is needed for improvement. Improvement, with its internal focus provides opportunities for the academic community to engage in self-reflection of its learning goals, to determine the degree to which these goals correspond to student and societal needs, and to evaluate if students’ activities, products, or performances coincide with the academic community’s expectations and offers information to students about the knowledge, skills, and other attributes they can expect to possess after successfully completing coursework and academic programs. Moreover, assessment establishes ways for academic units to understand the dimensions of student learning when seeking to improve student achievement and the educational process.
For these reasons, the new tool of the on-line tests can be a strong resource for teacher and students. This paper explain the methodology, the frequency and the results obtained for students with the on line test and the advantages observed by teacher and students
