Abstract:
We all recognize the importance of having an attractive, positive learning environment and many teachers will spend a lot of time and energy designing strategies to increase motivation. The design and exposure of a scientific poster in class could be an interesting strategy to get our objectives.
Posters are more efficient than a talk because they can be viewed even while you are off napping, and especially desirable if you are terrible at giving talks. And once you have produced a poster, you can easily take it to other conferences.
The proposal of this work has been to encouraged students to make a poster with the results of the lab classes. Each group worked on one practice. Posters must include a brief introduction, material and methods employed during the lab session, results obtained, discussion of these results and conclusions. Posters were projected in a class and students expose their results to the other members of the class. Afterwards, students make questions and comment the differences with their own results. Our docent team think that in this way practices are more clear and academic performance and student achievement will be better.
