Abstract:
In this paper we want to give an account of the experience that we have conducted in the last two academic year at the School of Architecture of Politecnico di Milano. The multidisciplinary approach has been used for organizing scientific and didactical contributions coming from various disciplines.

Literature, medicine, choregic arts, music, painting, scuplture, engineering, fashion design, sociology and many others have been utilized to give the students the consciousness of the general context where they were called to design their architectures.

The multidisciplinarity of the inputs that the students received during the courses has generated two main effects: one, they were all very concerned by the consequences of any modification that could happen to established structures because of their projects, being made aware that they move in a complex organism; two, they developed an interesting ability to use quite unpredictable sources to balance their project requirements and final performances.

As a tradition, in the School of Milan it's mandatory never lose control of the architectural references, and the new "unpredictable sources" of inspiration were always set outside of the architectural culture perimeter, allowing the students to stay in touch with the formal resources that our School defends and to carry on the innovative side of their design method as well, in an interesting game of back and forth towards many different disciplines.
