Abstract:
The present study is part of a research project whose main objective is to provide evidence about gender sensitivity of University of Barcelona students. It is also analyzed the perception that the students have regarding their training in gender issues. The methodology is based on a survey. The approach is quantitative. Data was obtained from answers of the last year-students of the degrees of Business and Administration, Economics, Sociology, Political Science and History during the 2018-2019 academic year. The sample consists on 589 students. Results show a improvement of their sensitivity during their university stage. However, it is also worth to mention that the University have not been de main vector of the changes. According to the available information, influence of external context influence (family, friends and social movements) has been more relevant. Additionally, significant differences have been observed between males and females. In general, women are more sensitive and permeable than men. No significant differences were observed depending on the field of study. Finally, it seems that the questioning of stereotypes improves in the case of students that have received specific training in gender issues. In this sense, results allow to conclude that, in spite legislative and social improvements of the last decades, it is necessary to carry out training actions to promote real gender equality.
