Abstract:
A recent trend in educational fields is to personalize the learning content tailor to student needs. Adaptive educational hypermedia system (AEH) and intelligent tutoring system (ITS) is the two areas which are most active explored by researchers to enhance the personalization features by applying different approaches of adaptation. More recently the popular approaches of adaptation in AEH is learning styles adaptation which can differentiate individual student in terms of how they receives, process, experienced and implement an information or knowledge. This paper is about to reviews the existing learning styles in the area of Adaptive Educational Hypermedia System (AEHS) to promote more effective learning environment. Adaptive Hypermedia Systems based on Learning Styles have used different learning style models or theories and different kind of adaptation. In this paper, a brief overview of two learning styles and how these two learning styles have been modelled successfully in existing AEHS will be presented. These learning styles models are: Felder and Silverman Model and Honey and Mumford Model. In future, the usefulness and application of these two models will be incorporated into our AEHS for implementation and empirical evaluation.
