Abstract:
Paper will present development of educational tools for construction industry within the Leonardo da Vinci (LdV) projects conducted by authors. Assumptions and results for three projects will be presented.
LdV BOOKS project No: 2006-PL/06/B/F/PP/174014/P5, titled: “Common Learning Outcome for European Managers in Construction” (2006-2008) was connected with preparation of first books for Construction Managers Library. Seven books were created (i.e. Project Management, Construction Management, Economy and financial Management). Authors will present how the books are used for lecturing at the postgraduate study at Civil Engineering Faculty of Warsaw University of Technology, as well as for the recognition of managerial qualifications across EU (as over dozen countries use the books for comparison of professional development of construction managers).
Second presented project No: UK/07/LLP-LdV/TOI-028, titled “ACES - Archaeology and Construction Engineering Skills” is realised from November 2007 to October 2009. The specific aims of the ACES project are to identify interdependent skills requirements between construction engineers and archaeologists, review current best practice for archaeologists and engineers in each partner state (UK, Poland , Norway and Turkey), identify relevant occupational standards, prepare best practice guidance material for engineers and archaeologists, design training materials and e-learning delivery mechanisms. Authors will present how the project will facilitate co-operation between construction engineers and archaeologists and what types of courses are under development (“technology courses”, especially earthworks, for archaeologists, and “heritage protection” courses for engineers).
Third presented project is called PROCONSTR (No: PL/08/LLP-LdV/TOI/140013, titled: “Improving Vocational Education in the Construction Industry Sector with the Aim of Identification and Recognition Qualifications in European Union Countries”, years 2008-2010). The PROCONSTR project will widely promote idea of regular, professional development, support activities leading to implementation of European tools concerning education and vocational training – equalization of opportunities on European job markets, intensification of cooperation among companies from construction sector and social organizations in order to promote in the Europe professional development with reference to EQF and ECVET. PROCONSTR Project plans to implement innovative techniques of education, modify social attitude to construction jobs, break psychological barrier and influence change of construction employees' image which is associated to hard, difficult and unprofitable job.
